A/N: Another fic written for kelleypen as an anniversary present in 2005. What can I say? ;-) She has a fondness for Sirius and so do I.
The events in this fic take place soon after Harry has helped his Godfather escape on Buckbeak. I know the letters came by parrot but I imagined Sirius reached that tropical spot via America.

A while back I was challenged to produce one thousand words that contained speech and sound effects only. The conversation was to be between Remus and Sirius and I had to include the lines, "D'you think a girl would have been easier?" and "Moony... what do you think you're going to do with that?"

Well, I failed the word count. (Stop laughing R!) I forgot it existed so I rambled on. Wholly unbetaed so all mistakes are mine own. Oh yes, and you'll have to imagine some nodded agreement going on.

This particular slice of writing came about as a result of lurking on the SQ fluff thread where the idea was to use some aspect of a fairy tale. There have been some lovely snippets but this is not fluffy and so cannot be offered.

Fairy tales said 'beauty and the beast' to me, which in turn immediately said 'Remus and Tonks'.

This takes place at Grimmauld Place, which has been confirmed by Dumbledore as having passed into Harry's hands on Sirius's death, and is still being used as the headquarters of the Order.

I think the bones of something may be there but I'm in two minds about it. :/ Tonks's 'voice' isn't quite right.

A/N: 'liquor' in this case is pronounced 'ly-core' --at least, it is in the UK when referring to leaking amniotic fluid. ;) The idea of a Lucina, or birthing witch, is mine own and based upon the Roman goddess of childbirth. Nothing squicky. Honest.

A/N: This started life as an interest drabble that did a 'Topsy' on me and then demanded one-shot status. It also changed from my original fluffy intent to flangst along the way. I thought there would be a lot of 'dancing around' one another at the start of this romance, with plenty of mistaken suppositions on both sides, which is what I tried to convey.
This is only my second attempt at these characters and I am indebted to ohginnyfan for her full beta. She helped me expand more clearly where before was muddled. I am also grateful to a very fine Remus/Tonks author, gilpin25 for her advice and comments.
